Pay monthly customers will get streaming music as part of their tariffs.
Mobile operator Orange has revealed that it has an exclusive on the standalone Deezer Mobile streaming music service in the UK. Orange will bundle Deezer into the price of its Panther pay-monthly tariffs, providing unlimited access to Deezer's catalogue of 13 million songs.
Does this mean people on other operators can't get Deezer in the UK? No, but they'll have to get Deezer Premium+, which costs £9.99 a month and includes both PC and mobile access. What's exclusive to Orange is the mobile-only version of the service.
"We know that our customers love music, and so we’re really excited about being the only network to be able to give them access to their favourite artists on their phones wherever they are," says Orange UK's chief marketing officer Pippa Dunn.
Orange and Deezer already have a relationship in the latter's native France, where an existing Orange bundle deal has been a key factor in Deezer's growth to a point where it has more than 1.2 million premium subscribers.
"We’re delighted to be partnering with Orange to offer a truly flexible mobile music experience, and look forward to seeing all the tapping feet on the tube," says Deezer UK managing director Mark Foster.
