Orange secures Toshiba TG01 deal

Operator bags pan-European exclusive for skinny touchscreen phone.

The TG01 first launched in France last week and will be available today in the UK (exclusive for three months). It will be available in Switzerland in a six-month exclusive later this month and in Romania from August.

The phone will be customised as a Signature device by Orange.

TG01 is being touted as a media device - it has one of the biggest touchscreens available at 4.1”, offers 1GHz processing power, and is thinner than the iPhone.

It will be combined with a select range of country-specific flat-rate tariffs to give customers clear and transparent pricing offers for using multimedia services.

In the UK for example, Orange will offer shortcuts to the best of Orange Video (such as Sky 24/7 Football), and it will come exclusively with a free pre-loaded film trailer, GI Joe.  In France, customers get access to Orange mobile TV with over 60 channels.

Olaf Swantee, SVP of Orange’s global mobile business, said: “At Orange, it is our ambition to help every Orange customer get more out of their mobile. Over 3.2 million customers per month browse the Orange World portal in the UK, and in France we have over 800,000 mobile TV subscribers per month.”
