Orange UK says its mobile music downloads increased by 70 per cent in the past six months.
Official stats report 203,000 tracks downloaded in October, compared to 105,000 in January. And the UK’s current number one single, ‘Bleeding Love’ by The X Factor winner Leona Lewis, has been downloaded from the Orange Music Store more than 5,000 times in the past seven days. The best overall seller was ‘Crazy’ by Gnarls Barkely with 25,000 sales.Richard Wheeler, head of music for Orange, said, “There has never been a better time to be a mobile music customer. There’s more choice of music and handsets than ever before, and it’s now so easy to download tracks to your phone. The mobile music market is buoyant and growing so rapidly that we’re seeing new download records being set every month.”
