Agreement to sell subsidised MacBooks could be just days away.
Orange is understood to be just days away from formalising a deal with Apple that will see the network operator offer laptops from the Cupertino firm with mobile broadband deals.
There's long been speculation on a possible tie-up, and Orange is widely expected to start offering iPhone in the UK when O2's exclusivity runs out.
Now reports have emerged suggesting that the mobile broadband deal is near completion and that the first MacBooks will become available through Orange this summer.
The deal is thought to be at a stage where Orange has already made a volume commitment to the vendor.
The laptops will not be offered free, but they will be heavily subsidised on 24-month contracts. It is not known if this is because of a request from Apple or due to the cost of the vendor's hardware in relation to potential returns from mobile broadband revenues.

It is thought that the deal will only be available through direct channels at Orange, such as its High Street retail stores and through its call centres.
