Compression of web pages works wonders for users' bank balances.
This month’s Opera State of the Mobile Web report includes in-depth profiles on the top 20 countries for Opera Mini usage, and a look at how much money consumers can save.
It claims US consumers could save $141 on average each month, while Opera Mini users in Nigeria save $44.
Other global stats identified in the report show Opera Mini has over 71.2 million users, a 7.1 per cent increase from August 2010. These users viewed over 36.9 billion pages in September 2010, and generated over 535.3 million MB of data for operators worldwide.
There's also a look at the UK market, with the following factoids:
* Page-view growth since September 2009: 70.2 per cent
* Unique-user growth since September 2009: 14.6 per cent
* Data transfer growth since September 2009: 73.4 per cent
* Page views per user: 335
* Data transferred per user (MB): 7
* Data transferred per page view (KB): 21
