Opera surges to new high

More than 23 million people used Opera Mini in March, a 12.1 per cent increase from February.

The mobile browser specialist keeps on posting these remarkable results. The 23 million figure is up 157 per cent year on year, and these users  viewed more than 8.6 billion pages – that's  255 better than march 2008.

Opera's State of the Mobile Web report  also shows how much data is being transferred as a result of all this activity. The firm served 148 million MB of data to handsets worldwide, a 319 per cent year on year jump.

This month's report focuses on Latin America, where from March 2008 to March 2009, page views in the top 10 countries increased 673 per cent while  unique users grew by 164 per cent.

The stats also look at one 24-hour period (Tuesday, March 17th) to see how Opera Mini is used throughout the day in the top 10 countries.
