Opera readies iPhone browser...

But hopes Apple will not 'deny users a choice'. We've seen this tactic before

Opera Software has told Reuters that it intends to show off an iPhone web browser at Mobile World Congress next week.

The company claims its software will enable download speeds six times faster than Safari and uses compression technology that will reduce data load on networks by 90 per cent.

Of course, there's a very big chance that Apple won't approve the app. And of course Opera knows this, so has followed the tried and tested example of Spotify et all by getting the PR bandwagon rolling early.

Opera co-founder Jon von Tetzchner said: "We have not submitted it yet to the Apple App Store. However, we hope that Apple will not deny their users a choice in Web browsing experience."
