Opera Software believes the mobile web is replacing the wired web in South East Asia.
Its latest State of the Mobile Web report reveals that in many Southeast Asian countries the mobile Web exists not because it complements wired access, but replaces it. Page views grew more than 1120 per cent in the Philippines this year, while there was 330 per cent user growth and 827 per cent page view growth in 2008 in Indonesia."There is an incredible appetite in Southeast Asia for the mobile Web," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera Software. "Impressive growth figures for usage, data transfers and page views underscore this demand. Helping users reach the sites that are important in their daily lives is our main priority and commitment with Opera Mini."
