OpenMarket claims UK consumers are keen for mobile crediting

Also says 19m Brits have bought goods and services on their mobile phones.

Mobile payments firm OpenMarket has published the results of a survey of 1,000 British mobile users, which it claims shows a strong interest in mobile crediting - where brands add credit to a user's phone bill for interacting with it.

The survey found that 62% of respondents would buy a product or service from a brand offering this feature, while 31% said they would be likely to buy from that brand in the future.

OpenMarket's survey also found that nearly one in four users want purchases of less than £10 to be automatically deducted from their mobile bill (or to put it another way: more than three in four don't).

More stats? You got 'em. 55% of people surveyed said having to provide credit card details puts them off making a purchase, while 67% said that their main concern when making a mobile payment is the accuracy of information on their bill.

"While consumers are spoilt for choice when it comes to accessing content and services on their phones, our research has shown that there are many occasions where they would happily pay for something but the process is so complicated it simply puts them off," says OpenMarket's general manager for Europe Alex Moir.
