Omnifone appoints new CEO

Ex-Sky man Jeff Hughes to lead digital music specialist's expansion into the US

Omnifone has appointed ex-BSkyB EVP Jeff Hughes as its new CEO as the company prepares for a US launch and expansion into more 30 markets this year.

Founder and CEO of six years Rob Lewis moves to full time Executive Chairman, focusing on key relations with rights owners, consumer electronics vendors, ISPs, automotive and telecoms partners.

As part of a wider exec re-jig, CFO Matthew Bagley's role has been extended to include overall responsibility for business development, working with Director of Business Development, David O'Rourke.

Omnifone already powers cross-platform digital music services under the Musicstation brand for partners across 20 countries.

Rob Lewis said: "Jeff brings a wealth of experience to Omnifone as it prepares for global expansion. His managerial skill set and experience, combined with our expanded executive team, will facilitate the rapid growth of Omnifone's cloud based digital content services internationally, ensuring that Omnifone is ready to deliver digital media services to tens of millions of subscribers on a global basis over the next few years."
