It's been a long time coming, but it's here promising simple and fast access.
The Wikimedia Foundation, which runs the Wikipedia user-generated encyclopedia, says it will be add more features based on user feedback and has encouraged its community to get involved in the app's future development.
There are no shortage of unofficial Wikipedia apps for iPhone, which the organisation is clearly conscious of. It says:
"This is our official application and we're working hard on making the absolute best Wikipedia app out there... The code is 100 per cent open source and community built. If you are a programmer and good at JS/HTML5, then come and help us out!"
