Telefonica-owned operator bullish ahead of its Q4 earnings statement next week.
O2 UK executives have told Reuters that they expect the company to have outperformed its rivals in Q4, despite customers being more reluctant to commit to long-term contracts.Telefonica chief exec Matthew Key said the unit had experienced no material impact from the economic downturn, though he did point out that customers were seeking more value for money.
He said: "We've outperformed the market in the past and having seen Vodafone's performance we would expect this trend to continue."
He cited high-end handsets and mobile broadband as contributors to growth, and confirmed that O2 would be offering laptops in the UK as part of broadband subscriptions in partnership with Samsung.
