O2 to cut iPhone price?

Speculation that the UK operator will seek to clear out current-gen iPhone stock ahead of new model.

MobileToday says that O2 will slash its iPhone prices in May in order to clear stock for the new third-gen model, which is expected to appear in July.

Specifically, iPhone will be offered from free on a £35 a month contract (compared to £45 currently).

The article also says that Orange is in negotiations with APple to begin offering the iPhone in the UK, with O2's exclusive deal apparently coming to an end.

On Tuesday Apple is hosting an event at its HQ to give a sneak peek at its upcoming iPhone 3.0 OS and SDK.
