O2 joins UK data club

O2 rolls out flat-rate data 'bolt ons' to all of its UK customers.

As predicted be ME a couple of weeks ago, O2 has finally rolled out 'unlimited' data packages to all its pre-pay and contract customers.

Until now the company had only confirmed data bundle details for its iPhone users and has lagged behind all the other UK operators in providing flat-rate data for all.

But starting October 1st, the O2 Web Bolt On will be available for £7.50 a month. Of course usage is not really unlimited. In fact it's limited to 250MB a month.

In comparison, 3 UK's X-Series users get 1GB usage for £5 a month, Vodafone customers get 120MB for £7.50 a month, Orange offers 'all you can eat' for £8 a month, while T-Mobile's Web n' Walk tariffs start at £34 a month (inclusive of line rental and, voice/text allowance).

In terms of O2, there's also a Web Max option for people that want to use their phone as a modem for a lap top or PC. That comes in at £30 a month and has a higher 3GB usage limit.
