O2 Ireland is trialling Spodtronic Radio, which offers 3G subscribers access to 200 radio stations.
The operator claims it’s the first trial of its kind in Europe. Spodtronic Radio allows users to scan and listen to FM, AM and internet radio stations on their mobile, as well as offering access to artist information, and the ability to create favourites and rate songs. Users also have access to 50,000 audio podcasts, and the BBC Live Concert Archive.Colm Codd, head of new business at O2 Ireland, said, "Spodtronic Radio is indicative of the global trend where consumers want to be able to access a wider variety of content while on the move."
Triallists will tune in on Nokia N73 handsets, and many will be foreign nationals, who will be able to access radio stations from their native countries.
