Block It lets people block unwanted text, picture and video messages from other mobiles.
O2 Ireland has launched a new service called Block It, which aims to help people put a stop to mobile bullying. How? By allowing customers to block texts and MMS messages from specific mobile numbers.
The service uses technology from SMS firm Anam, and is controlled by text: users text BLOCK and the phone number they want to block to O2's dedicated shortcode.
"Bullying is unacceptable behaviour which we all have a role to play in trying to combat," says O2 Ireland's marketing director Damian Devaney.
"Block It has been specifically designed to empower our younger customers, allowing them to get on with their lives without the fear of receiving unwanted, hurtful or mean text, video or picture messages."
Anam recently worked with Norwegian operator Telenor to launch a similar service on its network.
