O2 iphone - cheaper to use but not to buy

O2 UK has added more minutes and texts to its monthly iPhone tariffs.

The operator will now offer 600 minutes (up from 200) and ‘more than double’ the number of texts for customers on the £35 wireless. Those with £45 plans will get 1,200 minutes and 500 texts messages – the same as the current £55 plan. The latter will be replaced with a £75 plan offering 3,000 minutes and 500 texts.

Interesting that the change does not affect the purchase price of the device. In the US, of course, Apple and AT&T reduced the device by $200 after a few months on sale.

O2’s revamp comes amid speculation that sales have fallen slightly short of target (a reported 190,000 against the 200,000 projected).
