O2 bolts music on to LookAtMe!

O2 UK has added music functionality to its LookAtMe! user-generated video service.

Users can now submit their own audio track or band video to the new 'Your Show' segment of the Yospace-powered service, which is available on both the O2 Active WAP portal and i-mode.

Speaking at an event earlier today, O2's head of content Grahame Riddell told ME that the operator is keen to extend the user-generated concept across content verticals such as music, as opposed to UGC being a standalone category in itself.

The LookAtMe! platform would appear to have replicated the success of 3 UK's SeeMeTV (also powered by Yospace), having generated one million video clip downloads since it launched in June last year. On one day in January 45,000 clips were downloaded.

As with LookAtMe!, Your Show users can download clips for 35p, with 3p paid to the creator of the track or video. Customers will be able to download free tracks every Monday in March as part of the O2 Long Weekend promotion.

O2 has also seen encouraging take-up of its MyBlueBook digital content locker following a soft launch at the beginning of the year. 'Several thousand' O2 customers have picked up on the service, which allows users to back up text messages, contacts, pictures and video to www.o2.co.uk.

Riddell said O2 is exploring the possibility of allowing users to use the MyBlueBook service to back-up paid content such as music, games and video.
