Cloud-based service being tested by 400 people.

AkihabaraNews says the Japanese operator's voice translation platform will use cloud technology to convert one language into another, with a delay of just two-seconds.

The now bust text-to-voice firm Spinvox offered tech that could translate voicemails,  which turned out to be powered by nothing more than call centre workers.

NTT Docomo is currently testing its service on approximately 400 people until the end of March, using Japanese and English languages.

Accuracy for Japanese-to-English is around 90 per cent, and approximately 80 per cent for English-to-Japanese, according to the report.

If the trials go well, the service will be launched for commercial use with additional languages rolling out for use in tourism, education, retail and health markets.
