Now Dolby sues RIM

Another lawsuit to add to your wallchart.

Dolby Laboratories, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Dolby International, filed the patent infringement suits in the US and Germany.

They allege that RIM infringes its patents on audio compression technologies, and says RIM uses these patented technologies without having obtained official licences.

It says that all other major smartphone makers licence these technologies.

The case merely adds to the spaghetti dish of lawsuits that are coming to characterise the smartphone space.
