Hint dropped to French newspaper.
Windows has been the missing OS when it comes to tablets, as devices based Android, RIM and WebOS have all be launched to compete with the iPad juggernaut.
Plenty of speculation has surrounded the Microsoft platform, especially now that Nokia is on board with it, but till now no specific plans have been given.
However PaidContent has revealed that Paul Amsellem, head of Nokia France, told French newspaper Les Echos that the first tablets will roll out next summer. He said: “In June 2012, we will have a tablet that runs on Windows 8."
The news comes as Nokia takes its first WP7 device, the Lumia 800, into stores across Europe.
