Nokia to beef up its Maps offering with purchase of German mobile mapping software firm.
The Berlin-based bit-side will accelerate the development of Nokia's location-based services, which got quite a boost last year when Nokia completed the purchase of Navteq for $8 billion. This one won't cost quite as much."Acquiring bit-side enables Nokia to offer consumers the world-leading mobile location applications, such as Maps, along with routing and navigation at an accelerated speed" said Michael Halbherr, VP and head of social location for Nokia.
