Nokia shuts Vancouver games studio - report

A hundred jobs said to be affected as Finnish handset maker re-jigs resources.

Develop is reporting that Nokia has shut down its Vancouver-based game development operations, affecting 100 jobs.

The N-Gage Design Studio in Vancouver had developed a significant number of titles for the first and second generation N-Gage systems, as well as for other mobile phones.

The group worked on franchises such as Call of Duty, Tiger Woods and Tony Hawks.

The studio closed its doors on June 30th, while the fate of its workforce – some 100 staff – is unclear, for now.

Nokia was unable to comment when contacted by Develop.
