Nokia N96 begins shipping

Follow-up to current flagship N95 coming

Nokia's flagship N96 multimedia handset has begun shipping in Europe today, ahead of a scheduled launch in October.

The latest in the Nseries range comes with live TV, a five mega-pixel camera, turn-by-turn voice navigation, 16GB of internal memory, N-Gage gaming and a 2.8 inch display.

A standalone unit will cost E550 (around £450).

"The Nokia N96 is mobile entertainment at its best, a fitting flagship for our Nseries range," said Jonas Geust, vice president for Nokia Nseries.

"It defines convergence by blending phone and multimedia options seamlessly with the unique Nokia Nseries dual slider that makes discovering and sharing experiences easy. Watch live TV and video, take high quality photos and geotag them to specific locations or directly upload them online via the fast internet connection - it is all about taking mobile entertainment and communication to the next level."
