Nokia makes Ovi back-up better

Nokia is to improve the ‘personal information management’ functionality of its Ovi service.

The latest version of Ovi.com, currently a public beta, offers free functionality for syncing calendar, contacts, notes and tasks between a Nokia phone and www.ovi.com. It means users can create an online backup of key information they can access when connected to the internet.

The Ovi Suite for PC app enables backing up from phone to PC  Nokia device, and the drag-and-drop of photos and videos to Share on Ovi, the media sharing service Nokia launched earlier this year.

Meanwhile Files on Ovi allows remote access of PC files on via any browser-enabled mobile. The service is based on the software Nokia obtained through the acquisition of Avvenu in December 2007.
