Rumours suggest its new OS, Maemo, will include home screen ad channel.
TechCrunch claims to have seen the new OS, and received verification from a source at Nokia.
Maemo has been in the pipeline for a while, but was previously believed to be for the Internet Tablet line only. Now, there's speculation that it will hit other products and may one day even replace S60 altogether.
TechCrunch says the home screen reportedly comprises a scrolling page on which users can add widgets, some of which take up the full width of the screen. An ad widget would run ads controlled by the operator partner.
Sounds like a glorified version of the kind of ad tickers offered by companies like Celltick and, for a shortlived period, by Motorola.
