When users pay by credit card, the split remains 70:30.
Nokia has clarified its new Ovi Store revenue shares, pointing out that the new 60:40 split for developers only applies when people buy apps and games using carrier billing.
If they pay using credit cards, then developers will continue to take a 70% cut.
The 60:40 split for operator billing kicks in on 1 October, and was announced yesterday at Nokia World.
It's fair to say that in markets where Nokia offers a choice of operator billing or credit card payments, the new 60:40 split will be used more often.
Nokia's George Linardos said yesterday that in these markets, two thirds of Ovi Store purchases are through operator billing.
"When we turn a new market on and we go from credit-card to operator, we see a 13x increase in transactions by enabling operator billing," he said.
