US international trade commission opens case

A US trade body has decided to launch an investigation into whether Apple infringed on patents owned by Nokia.

The mobile phone giant first accused Apple of using its patented technology in October, before filing a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission last month claiming that Apple had infringed seven of its patents.

According to a statement from the ITC, Nokia’s claim relates to “certain electronic devices, including mobile phones, portable music players, and computers that infringe patents”.

Nokia is requesting that the trade body issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order.
