Nokia acquires Plum LBS assets

Deal will bring in technology to complement Nokia's existing Social Location services.

Nokia has confirmed it has acquired certain assets of Plum Ventures, a privately held company based in Boston that employed approximately ten people.

The Finnish company has revealed very little about the deal itself, other than to say Plum will complement its existing Social Location services.

Plum is described as a developer and operator of cloud-based social media sharing and messaging services for private groups such as families, co-workers, neighborhoods, sports, schools and faith. Sounds a bit Twittery to us.

Plum has already released an iPhone app - it will be interesting to see what happens to this now that Nokia is involved.
