Nielsen: Millennial tops US mobile ad space

Ratings specialist lists top firms and says Millennial has 45.6m uniques.

In an article by Mobile Marketer that was refined by Moconews, Nielsen revealed that there were 55 million unique US visitors to the mobile web in June, meaning that Millennial reached up to 82 per cent of users.

Its top six list is as follows:

1. Millennial Media: 45.6 million
2. AOL/Platform-A’s Third Screen Media: 28.6 million
3. AdMob: 25.7 million
4. Microsoft’s MSN Ad Network: 25.4 million
5. Jumptap: 23.4 million
6. Quattro Wireless: 23 million

Nielsen conceded it’s difficult to compare networks because they don’t always have 100 per cent of their ads on each site.

Thus, if a publisher uses multiple ad networks, then those ad networks would get credit for all of the visitors, not just the fraction of visitors that saw their ads.

The report doesn't include mobile applications, which now attract 62 million more monthly visitors than the mobile web.

These two factors probably account for the absence of AdMob and the low ranking of Quattro.
