'What's happening in Japan is really a blueprint for what's going to happen here...'

Having been acquired by Japanese mobile social games giant DeNA for $403 million, ngmoco's first task is to successfully launch its parent company's Mobage Town community in the West.

In Japan, Mobage Town has been a huge hit, with more than 20 million members playing social games on their mobile phones.

"It's hard for people in the West to get their heads around how big it is in Japan," ngmoco boss Neil Young tells CNN. "What's happening in Japan is really a blueprint for what's going to happen here."

ngmoco has its own mobile social network in the West - Plus+ - but it seems Mobage Town will take a different form as it launches in North America and Europe.

According to CNN, it will be an app-store-like app on Android providing access to a variety of games, whereas on iPhone, Mobage Town features will be built into individual games, to avoid angering Apple.

"Publishers see that the conditions here in the West are ready for Mobage to take off," says Young.
