Live broadcasts on the way?
US sports body the NFL has confirmed that it is in talks with mobile partner Verizon Wireless about plans for some kind of tablet service.
"The NFL will be on a tablet. It's a question of what shape or form," its SVP of media strategy Brian Rolapp tells the Wall Street Journal. "We are currently talking to Verizon about it."
The two companies already have a deal covering mobile devices, which includes an NFL Mobile app which has the rights to rebroadcast matches from the NFL Network.
Any tablet extension of this would presumably involve the same content, although Verizon's multimedia and entertainment boss Colson Hillier strikes a cautious note to the WSJ.
"Whether we secure the rights to every game, we will have to see."
