Next-gen Spotify integrates with Facebook

But no news yet on whether the company's mobile app will follow suit

Spotify is rolling out a major software upgrade this week as part of its biggest revamp since the service launched in 2008.

The music streaming specialist says it has added over a dozen new features to its platform, most notably something called Spotify Social, which will allow users to share and discover music via Facebook.

One of the other main additions for desktop users is the ability to import all locally stored tracks into the Spotify library, turning the software into a music management tool in the vein of iTunes etc.

There's no news yet on when or if the social features will find their way onto the Spotify mobile app, however, so stay tuned for more news on the front.
