e-newspapers and magazines head for Google's smartphones.
NewspaperDirect has announced that its PressDisplay e-newspaper and e-magazines service is now available for Android smartphones.
The service offers more than 1,400 local, national and international newspapers and magazines, and recently announced support for Amazon's Kindle and Sony's range of e-readers.
Now it's got an Android app too, which lets people read converted versions of the original print editions - including cartoons, puzzles and even ads. It also lets them search, comment and use text-to-speech features.
"We believe in giving readers what they want: their favorite publications, in their entirety, presented in a familiar, intuitive format, wherever readers are, and on whichever device they prefer," says CEO Alex Kroogman.
Supporting Android could mean PressDisplay will make the leap to tablet devices as they become available - last night, Dell showed off a five-inch Android-powered slate, for example.
