News Corp's The Daily iPad app breaks cover, but will it be delayed?

First screenshot emerges, but report claims Apple needs more time to get its new subscription system working

With a launch expected sometime next week, the first images of News Corporation's new iPad app The Daily have emerged.

Poynter journalist Damon Kiesow poked about in the source code of the new app's teaser website, and found a graphic showing some homescreens on iPads.

The image (above) doesn't reveal much, other than Oprah being the cover story. However, the code also indicates that the app will use a 'Story Carousel', and that there will be social media features, as well as YouTube and Vimeo integration for videos.

Still, we'll know for sure how this fits in when the app is released. But will it be next week? Not according to All Things Digital, which claims that the launch has been delayed for Apple to make final tweaks to its new subscription-based billing system, designed specifically (if not exclusively) for magazine and news apps.
