Recruiting of Oskar Stål indicates music firm's seriousness about mobile payments.
Stål had been with transactions specialist mBlox for eight years. As director of development he helped grow the firm from a five-person start-up to a $100m business.
Naturally he will bring much mobile nous to a company that has now launched its streaming music app with iPhone, Android and Microsoft, while teaming up with 3UK to offer a subscription as part of a phone tariff.
The assumption is that Stål will bring new ideas about in-app payments, sender-pays packages and phone billing to Spotify.
He said: “The Spotify team and their accomplishments to date are amazing. Being able to join this group with the vision of bringing music to everyone is just such an extraordinarily great way to dedicate ones energy and passion”.
