First Danger device since Microsoft bought the company puts content and personalisation first.
The Lohans and Hiltons will be rejoicing - T-Mobile USA has taken the wraps off its new Sidekick mobile phone/messaging/media gizmo. The spec includes (deep breath) video capture, playback and sharing; wireless stereo music and media sharing via Bluetooth; quick friend search and optimised group IM chats; customisable web browsing; and universal search across all phone applications and data.
Microsoft paid $500 million to buy Danger Inc, maker of the Sidekick, back in February. The device is a cult hit in the US and has high profile fans including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and other Einstein-like geniuses. It’s never really made a dent in Europe, even though T-Mobile had a crack at it.
Roz Ho, corporate VP of Premium Mobile Experiences at Microsoft, said: "Playing such a significant role in our lives, mobile phones should reflect our individual style. T-Mobile clearly understands this, and we're very excited about what the new Sidekick will offer consumers."
