Full launch of v4.2 sees Opera claiming 30 per cent increase in browsing speed too.

Opera has officially launched its new Opera Mini mobile browser, which for the first time supports handsets that use Google's Android OS (i.e. the HTC G1).

In addition to Android support, the company claims Opera Mini 4.2 offers a 30 per cent speed improvement for users in the US, due to its local server park, which transcodes full web sites for viewing on handset screens.

The software will also be available in 90 languages, with new skins and Opera Link support for notes, allowing users to sync their notes between the PC and Opera Mini.

Opera says the Mini browser has 22 million users globally and is getting good traction in Asia.
