A dedicated page on the help menu displays all those unused megabytes.
Opera has always made a big deal out of the way its browsers use compression techniques and the cloud to speed up browsing and cut down on data consumption.
Now it’s giving users the evidence of how much they’re saving. It’s aimed at those who like to browse but have monthly limits on the data allowance.
Opera Mini 6.5 and Opera Mobile 11.5, which have just debuted on Android, will do this on a dedicated page found via the help menu.
The megabytes saved counter can be converted into money saved, and can also monitor data in a time-specific manner such as when travelling abroad.
Opera says its cloud-assisted browsing reduces the size of webpages by up to 90 per cent providing faster and cheaper web surfing.

Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software, said: "A lot of people don’t realise how much money they can save on data traffic, people naturally want an easy way to measure how much data they use.
"Now, Opera Mini and Opera Mobile will show exactly how much data you save by using our cloud-assisted technology. Never before has it been this easy — or this sexy — to reduce your mobile data usage."
