Colette Bowe will replace Lord Currie at the UK regulator.
The UK government has confirmed that Colette Bowe has been chosen to replace David Currie as Chairman of OfcomOfcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services.
Dr Bowe trained as an economist and has held a number of senior roles in the public and private sectors, including at the Independent Broadcasting Authority, the Securities and Investment Board, as Chief Executive of the Personal Investment Authority and as Executive Chairman of the Fleming Funds Management.
She was the founding chairman of the Telecoms Ombudsman Council and chaired Ofcom's Consumer Panel from its inception in 2003 to December 2007.
