Tablet premiere takes place within DC Comics app.
US broadcaster NBC has announced that its new TV drama The Cape will make its debut on iPad, in advance of its TV premiere.
The show airs from 9 January in the US, but the first episode can be watched now within the DC Comics iPad app.
"We thought engaging with DC Comics and the iPad would be a perfect way to create some pre-premiere buzz with fans who have the capacity to be ambassadors," NBC's Adam Stotsky tells Mashable.
It's the latest sign of how high iPad is looming in the priorities of US broadcasters and cable networks - see also Comcast's promise to stream live TV to tablets later this year.
NBC has sensibly chosen to target DC Comics' big userbase with its premiere, rather than launching a specific The Cape app which would have to build an audience from scratch.
