New iPhone security risk unmasked

Hackers could fool unsuspecting people into believing malicious code was from Apple

MobileCrunch has the story, which says anonymous hackers have reported a flaw in iPhone's security armour that is potentially quite serious, giving ne'er-do-well's access to a whole host of device settings.

It basically involves exploiting the iPhone's OTA config file updates procedure, so that nasty bits of code can pass themselves off as being from a trusted source, including Apple.

Once accepted and installed, the malicious code can alter proxy settings, email settings etc.

As MobileCrunch says, let's hope this one's quickly fixed.
