Netsize opens device database

Netsize has launched a handset information database called mDevices.

The knowledge database lists technical features and functionalities for over 2,500 mobile handsets and is accessible remotely via an API/Web service. For each handset, Netsize tests more than 160 features, taking into account screen size, video compatibility, musical formats and more.

The information is then integrated in a database comprised of seven main themes: basic, connectivity, navigation, image, music, video, application. 50 new mobile handsets will be added each month in collaboration with 70 operators in Europe.

Renaud Ménérat, marketing director of Netsize, said: “Optimising mobile browsing experience and product merchandising according to devices capabilities may sound trivial or obvious. However with close to 2,500 mobile handsets in the European market and 200 new models coming out each year, this information update can quickly become a nightmare for brands and merchants, and be of crucial necessity if they wish to propose their consumers a compelling shopping experience on mobile.”
