No need to choose between web pages and apps with 'Shell Apps' you can have both.
The German mobile internet specialist is launching shell apps for iPhone, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Android. In each case a website can be embedded into a shell application that supports other functions like the ability to save content or access native phone features such camera, GPS and more.
Michael Neidhoefer, MD of Netbiscuits, said: "Our customers want to unite the best of both worlds, and we've found a way to offer them just that.
"This solution not only offers a quick way to present all content and services in the highest possible quality on nearly all mobile devices worldwide. It is also a basis for functionally expanded client applications that run on all the leading platforms and open up the App Store distribution channel."
Netbiscuits has teamed up with GetJar to offer free listings of Netbiscuits-based Shell Apps and websites. As part of the deal, GetJar has created a 'Site Shortcuts' icon that sits on a mobile device’s desktop to open the corresponding mobile website with one click.
