Vegas-based Esrevni placed first, with five other runners-up.
Esrevni has won first place in the Netbiscuits Developer Challenge for the design of the Thunderbird’s mobile website. That's the USAF's aeronautical display team, not the 1960s TV series.The portal (usaftbirds.mobi) provides information on the team’s schedule, the 2008 team members, the history of the squadron and a selection of wallpapers, ringtones and videos.
Runners up were Steffen Persiel for his Mobici radar trap finder, Fuesideas for its Visit Florida portal, Plan.net Mobile for a Mobile Burger Service, Maven Lab for the lifestyle portal Plush Mobile and Hiogi, a mobile question & answer community.
Submissions were judged by Netbiscuits and the Yankee Group on aesthetic and technical design, content, fluidity and execution.
The winners receive free access to Netbiscuits’ developer tools and will have free Mobile Web hosting for a limited amount of time.

Lars Hartkopf, Netbiscuits’ head of marketing, said of the Thunderbirds site: “It’s design is perfectly adapted to mobile user’s needs and can stand as a model for intuitive mobile website development. We had a lot of great entries and the decision was very difficult.
