Neomobile acquires Turkish VAS firm UCT

Third acquisition in nine months for ambitious Italian content company.

Neomobile has been active in Turkey since 2006, and was a working partner of United Cellular Technologies (UCT) Group before the buy-out.

The Turkish VAS market is one of the most dynamic in the world and UCT is one of its key players. It works with the region's main operators Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea, and had revenue of €100m in 2010.

UCT and Neomobile will now integrate their Turkish units to consolidate their position in the market, and focus on building up m-commerce activities.

The deal maintains Neomobile eye-watering expansion, which saw it move into Brazil with the purchase of Zero9 in September 2010, and into the mobile payments space with the addition of Onebip in March 2011.

The firm was named among the Top ten fastest growing larger media companies in Europe at the GP Bullhound Media Momentum Awards 2011.

"Turkey is one of the markets setting the pace for mobile carrier billing as a successful payment mean for digital goods and soon also for physical goods.”
