NBC launches America's Got Talent audition iPhone and Android apps

Wants people to shoot footage of their skills to upload in the hope of stardom.

US broadcaster NBC Universal has launched iPhone and Android apps that will enable people to audition for its America's Got Talent reality show wherever they are.

Released today on the App Store and Android Market, both apps tie into the show's existing YouTube auditions, making it easier for people to upload directly with the relevant details.

"Send in your audition video to America's Got Talent directly from your phone," explains the app blurb. "The AGT Audition App powered by YouTube lets you send your submission video to NBC's America's Got Talent, directly from your phone. Come back later to see the 20 YouTube finalists and vote for your favorite."

The show is a transatlantic spin-off from the UK version, which is currently airing its latest series. The new series of the US version premieres on 31 May on NBC.

Our only question is how the dancing dogs that inevitably star in these shows will be able to work touchscreens. Actually, maybe that's their talent too...
