Turnstile will play nice with other social location services though.

The US National Basketball Association (NBA) is getting into the mobile social location game, with a service called Turnstile.

It will allow fans to check-in via their phones when watching matches live or on TV. According to the Wall Street Journal, the service will launch later this month.

Turnstile will be part of the NBA's existing NBA Game Time app, and will link in with Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Gowalla.

"We see location based services as just the tip of the iceberg," NBA Digital boss Bryan Perez tells the WSJ.

"The more we can integrate people’s location information at games, the more opportunities there are for things like sponsorships."
