Nokia-owned mapping specialist snaps up US-based mobile marketing firm.
Acuity employs 18 people and has counted Navteq as an investor since March 2008, working with the firm on a variety of projects since then.
Its embedded mobile advertising platform (eMAP) technology enables location targeted advertising, complete with APIs, reporting and campaign management functionality.
The deal follows Nokia's acquisition of another small company - US-based social media specialist Plum - on Friday.
Chris Rothey, VP of advertising at Navteq, said: "Our research indicates that the more finely we target advertising, the higher value it brings to consumers and advertisers alike. Navteq is committed to providing the leading location-based advertising capabilities and Acuity Mobile technology is an important piece of this."
