Namco Bandai merges its US games divisions

Mobile, console, PC and social games rolled into one.

Games publisher Namco Bandai has announced that it's merging its two US divisions into one new entity, Namco Bandai Games America.

That means the company's mobile-focused Namco Networks America will lose its standalone status, with iPhone and other mobiles sitting alongside console, PC and social games.

The new division will be headed by current Namco Networks boss Kenji Hisatsune.

"Consumers are more connected and they want their content on mobile, social and web platforms," he tells VentureBeat.

The boundaries between the various games platforms are certainly blurring. Numerous 'mobile' games firms are expanding onto Facebook and the digital stores of consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360, for example.
